Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse, ME

Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse, ME

The Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse sits high on a bluff in a town south of Portland and is part of a series of lights leading mariners to Portland harbor. All the accounts about photographing this lighthouse warned of trampling on the property and the lighthouse is inaccessible. I cross-referenced city records and tracked down the owner and was given permission to visit the property. There was a narrow window of clear skies on this night as the forecast for cloudy weather was coming true. The house had a security light partially illuminating the tower and I supplemented it with a dimmed LED light. I shot a series of photographs in which the house was lit as well, but this one struck me as having the nicest contrast between the house and the lighthouse. Shortly after taking this clouds covered the point and I was done for the night.
